Official Press Release: Quest
An EP by Vinay Kaushal and Michael Levine

Composer and guitar player Vinay Kaushal teamed up with renowned composer and violinist extraordinaire Michael Levine to create the fantastical EP ‘Quest’. Published by Mpath Tracks, Quest takes its listeners on an epic journey that is only confined by the limits of their imaginations. Originally conceived as a concept album for film, TV, and video games,  the five track EP is set to release on the 5th of December 2024 on streaming platforms worldwide.

“Not a lot of people know this but I’m a huge fan of the fantasy genre,” says Vinay, “whether it is books, movies, or games. I wanted to create a world in my medium - music”.

The entire EP invites you to be the champion of your own story. It starts with the tune ‘A Windswept Fable’ setting the mood, akin to a storyteller drawing his audience in, introducing the heroes in the story.  ‘Will O’ The Wisp’ tells the tale of a world fraught with magic, mischief, and hints of danger that our main characters must encounter. Each subsequent song lets the listener color in the details of their story. ‘Curious Dreamscapes’ features violins full of exquisite longing and hope while the guitars in ‘A Walk Towards Infinity’ dare you to venture into realms unknown. ‘On To New Adventure’s is all about courage and glory, with the violins grounding you, reminding you of more innocent times that will one day return.

The EP is all about new adventures and crossing borders, even in its making - although slightly more worldly.  Vinay and Michael collaborated across continents from their respective studios. “The creative process behind each tune is a couple of emails.”, Vinay jokes. “It was a long time dream of mine to collaborate with Michael Levine, and the ease with which this album came about is simply a sign of his genius. He somehow managed to know what I wanted/ what the track needed without any long drawn out conversations.”

Referred to as the “Jimi Hendrix of violin”, Michael Levine has a long list of illustrious credits to his name including as the composer for the Kit Kat earworm, “Gimme a Break”, as the producer for Lorde’s spooky rendition of “Everybody Wants to Rule The World”, and as the arranger of the choral version of "Spider-Pig" conducted by Hans Zimmer at the Hollywood Bowl.

Fender artist and Musician’s Institute (Hollywood) alumnus Vinay Kaushal has received several accolades for his multi-genre compositions including his debut album “Naked on a Train” based around his days in Los Angeles. The album “Quest” is another testament to his versatility as a composer. It’s best enjoyed with a cup of hot chocolate and a vivid imagination.
